Why do youth join gangs

Yeah that and they take what they think is the easy way out. It’s not until they end up in prison for the next thirty years that they realize it wasn’t.

We need to install a proper work ethic into young people, as a society we have seduced them with consumerism and instant gratification.

I think peer pressure is a big part of the problem, kids are desperate to be accepted by their peers.

Sometimes they are intimidated into it or forced through the use of violence.

I joined for the thrill, to make money and to be respected.

For me it was money, protection, the status, the buzz.

Actually, one of the biggest factors of youth joining gangs is poverty. A lot of kids that joins gangs are from the ghetto and dont have a lot of money. Some have families that have abandoned them so they join a gangs, a new family.

The reason why kids join gangs is because they feel that their parents dont care about them and they feel that by being in a gang it will bring them friends, protection, money, and respect. And most of the time a gang will get you all that. But at what cost? You have to go through alot to get to the top, I been through all that I joined a gang and still am in it for those reasons. I really hope by reading this it helps kids see that that gang life isn't the way to go. I wish i had never joined a gang. AMOR DE REY
